DVI cables are used with digital AV devices, such as a video card to an LCD Display.
DVI connectivity provides a faster and higher quality image to analogue connections as it removed signal processing between source and display.
Types of DVI Cables
- DVI-D - are used for direct digital connections betweensource video (namely, video cards) and LCD monitors. This provides a faster, higher-quality imagethan with analog, due to the nature of the digital format.
- DVI-A - are used to carry a DVI signal to an analogdisplay, such as a CRT monitor or budget LCD
- DVI-I - are integrated cables which are capable of transmitting either a digital-to-digital signal or an analog-to-analog signal
